Despite the political turmoil in the past months, Thailand is still number one as the most searched tourism destination for French travelers on any online search engines. According to Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s website, a popular French website “Le Routard” reports a total of 1.359 billion page view about Thailand’s tourism attractions during March to May, 2014.

This is good news for Thailand, as travelers from France still have confidence to come to Thailand. The page view result proves that Thailand is still an appealing destination for French and international tourist.

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, TAT Governor, proudly says via TAT’s media release,  “We would like to assure everyone that the country remains peaceful and safe and can now offer a much greater variety of fun and entertainment and exotic outings in all major tourist destinations.”

According to TAT, Thailand has welcomed 267,251 French visitors in 2014, an increase of 8.18 per cent over the same period of last year. TAT estimate that the number of visitors from France will reach over 636,400 by the end of 2014.

Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) Director General Nuntawan Sakuntanaga advises Thai entrepreneurs to use carbon footprint labels for their products, as is now the trend for international customers.

“Thai exporters should be aware about the need for green production and small details such as the use of carbon footprint labels,” said Sakuntanaga. The reduction of greenhouse gas has become a mission for all parts of the supply chain. It can also represent a technical barrier to trade by presenting an obstacle for Thai exporters who have not applied for the label.

The carbon footprint label is the third of the EU’s environmental labels which inform customers of the amount of greenhouse gas emission created in the manufacturing of the products. Those products with a carbon footprint label have a greater opportunity for exportation to EU as they meet the appropriate standards and requirements.
