Tradewinds 5 DITP's-plans-after-coup-bNantawan Sakuntanaga, the director general of the DITP, announced that the department would contact attachés and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to explain that the ruling National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) would not disturb Thailand’s trade.

Sakuntanaga said that Thailand still has the capability to produce and to export quality products and services as usual, and that the DITP was convinced that Thai trade would grow in the second half of 2014. “As the political situation is getting better, the private sector is beginning to have more confidence in Thailand’s trade,” she said. “The department will work with the private sectors to seek suitable plans for coping with any possible risks.”

The DITP has joined with Honorary Trade Advisors to the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, including the US and Chinese, to determine the commercial trade plans for the second half of 2014 by seeking to penetrate ASEAN markets, hosting more Thai Week events and preparing Thailand to be the trade centre of ASEAN.
