Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) Director General Nuntawan Sakuntanaga advises Thai entrepreneurs to use carbon footprint labels for their products, as is now the trend for international customers.

“Thai exporters should be aware about the need for green production and small details such as the use of carbon footprint labels,” said Sakuntanaga. The reduction of greenhouse gas has become a mission for all parts of the supply chain. It can also represent a technical barrier to trade by presenting an obstacle for Thai exporters who have not applied for the label.

The carbon footprint label is the third of the EU’s environmental labels which inform customers of the amount of greenhouse gas emission created in the manufacturing of the products. Those products with a carbon footprint label have a greater opportunity for exportation to EU as they meet the appropriate standards and requirements.
