Thai delegates led by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak accompanied by Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn paid an official trip to Laos from May 23 to 25.

The two countries discussed their strategic partnership and strengthening trade and investment cooperation in order to boost trade value to over US$10 billion by 2021.

About 30 Thai enterprises from various sectors including consumer products, trading, infrastructure, construction, medical services and energy held a meeting with representatives from Laos’ public and private sectors to explore potential business opportunities.

“We plan to work on several projects such as opening Pracharat Market at the border to boost border trade, promoting cooperation on organic agriculture, and training Laotian logistic personnel in Thailand,” said Tantraporn.
