South Korea opened its market to Thai raw and frozen chicken exporters on November 9.

“The South Korea government has allowed raw and frozen chicken to be exported from Thailand following an inspection tour by its official at 12 Thai facilities. The inspection validated 10 facilities as acceptable by South Korean standards while 41 more facilities are being inspected,” Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said November 18.

The minister added that the announcement has encouraged South Korean importers to contact Thai producers and the Thai Trade Office in Seoul to request further information about importing Thai raw and frozen chicken. It’s expected that Thai chicken exports to South Korea will value over US$1 billion following this announcement.
