According to a report from the DITP Office in Xiamen, the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) market in China increased by 4.7% in 2015, while the local brand market grew by 6.2% and international brands by 3.4%. Food and beverages demonstrated the highest growth rates.

The report added that China has given priority to local brands, and that Chinese brands have become more popular and are continually gaining a higher share of the local market.

However, DITP Director-General Malee Choklumlerd said that there are many great opportunities for Thai companies in China.

“You have to thoroughly understand Chinese consumer behavior, and develop products and use proper marketing strategy to serve their needs,” she said. “Moreover, you must create brand awareness in this market.”
