Thai companies should utilise the free trade agreements (FTAs) Thailand has with other countries, including India, to gain an advantage over competitors, Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn stated on June 20.
Now, Thailand benefits from two FTAs with India – the Thailand-India Free Trade Agreement (TIFTA) and ASEAN-India Free Trade Agreement (AIFTA).
In the first quarter of this year, Thai exports under the TIFTA were worth US$186.70 million, an increase of 13.68% on the same period for 2015. Meanwhile, exports under AIFTA valued US$581.46 million, down 5.98% on 2015.
