The Ministry of Commerce expects Thaitrade.com, Thailand’s online B2B marketplace, to generate at least US$140 million (5 billion baht) via online trading, and help educate around 15,000 Thai SMEs on online marketing within three years.

“Thaitrade.com has worked with partners in e-commerce, including the Alibaba Group, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Korean International Trade Association to develop a trading database for analysing global trading trends,” Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said on May 22.

Launched in 2011, Thaitrade.com currently has 116,034 members – 18,358 sellers and 97,676 buyers – with more than 240,000 products. Most sales are in food and beverages, garments, cosmetics, agricultural products, gifts and handicrafts, and furniture. India, China, the US and Pakistan are the top buying nations.
