Twelve Chilean companies and 35 Thai businesses attended a business matching activity hosted by the DITP and the Department of Trade Negotiations (DTN) at the Centara Grand at Central Plaza Laoprao, Bangkok on April 8.

“Chilean importers are greatly interested in Thai products, such as food and beverages, spa products, cosmetics, clothing and furniture. We expect at least US$10 million (350 million baht) in potential sales over a one-year period,” DITP Director-General Malee Choklumlerd said.

The DITP encourages Thai businesses to take advantage of the free trade agreement (FTA) between Thailand and Chile, which has been in effect since November 2015. The FTA aids Thai exports, especially automobiles and autoparts, canned fish, polymers, electrical appliances, construction materials, rubber and rubber products, and gems.

In 2015, Thailand’s exports to Chile were worth US$612.24 million and imports were US$282.68 million.
