Thailand should take advantage of the ASEAN-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by enhancing investment cooperation with Hong Kong’s government, DITP Director-General Malee Choklumlerd stated on May 10.
According to the Director-General, many Hong Kong businesses are looking for manufacturing partners as they relocate part of their production base from China to ASEAN countries.
“We should identify particular industries for investment such as robotics, film and fashion,” Choklumlerd said. “Thailand has expertise in agricultural processing while Hong Kong has knowledge of market expansion. This is a great opportunity for Thai businesses.”
