Issue 50

The DITP met associations representing heavy industries along with relevant government agencies, such as the Customs Department and the Board of Investment, on April 29. The group discussed the current export situation and how they might achieve the goal of 5% growth for heavy industry exports.

“The DITP will raise the issues discussed at the meeting at the International Trade Development Committee chaired by the prime minister with the purpose of immediately removing trade barriers,” said DITP Director-General Malee Choklumlerd. “Moreover, the DITP is also holding promotional activities in new markets such as the AEC, Latin America and Africa to increase exports of heavy industrial products.”

Automobiles, auto parts and accessories, air conditioners, and para wood and wood pellets are expected to be in high demand. Exports of heavy industrial products in Q1 2016 totalled US$32.27 billion, representing 59.95% of Thailand’s total export value.
