Hong Kong is now a major market for high-quality rice from Thailand, according to DITP Director General Malee Choklumlerd.

“The trend for rice consumption has expanded to organic rice and brown rice,” Choklumlerd said on February 9. “This is a golden opportunity for Thai rice exporters especially for riceberry, which has a high nutrition value containing omega-3, zinc, and vitamins E and B1. The rice can be made into riceberry flour which is fragrant and also sweeter than wheat flour.”

The Hong Kong trade office will also be holding numerous activities in 2016 to promote riceberry such as at the Thai Festival to be held from April 5 to 30 at Mira Hotel and at the AEON department store where ready-to-cook riceberry products from Thailand will be available for purchase in May and June.
