The DITP is urging Thai businesses to focus on entering the ASEAN market, particularly CLMV countries which still retain a high purchasing power amidst the sluggish world economy.

“The Deepening ASEAN policy will utilise the strategy of entering secondary markets to expand the reach of Thai products and services while using branded Thai products to enter primary markets,” DITP Director General Malee Choklumlerd said on January 26. “The DITP is also aiming to increase competitiveness of Thai SMEs through e-commerce.”

To promote investment and trade between Thailand and CLMV countries, the DITP held the TOP Thai Brands exhibition in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from February 3 to 7, and has plans to organise similar events in Manila, Yangon, Ho Chi Minh City and Vientiane.
