The DITP, the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) and the Gems, Jewelry and Precious Metal Confederation of Thailand (GJPCT) jointly held an Exhibitors’ Meeting on January 6 at the Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom Hotel in preparation for the 57th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair.

“We would like to encourage new innovation from exhibitors, as we want to present to foreign buyers the potential of Thai gems and jewelry companies,” Suttipong Damrongsakul, President of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) said at the event.

DITP Deputy Director-General Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat said, “The government is confident of the potential of Thai businesses in the gem and jewelry industry. Various measures and incentives have been introduced to facilitate trading.”

“Everyone coming to the fair is looking forward to see new jewelry designs. It is up to the operators in the industry to make that happen,” she added.

Somchai Phornchindarak, Chairman of the Gems, Jewelry and Precious Metal Confederation of Thailand (GJPCT), believes that the industry has a bright future. “We need to push Thailand to become the gem and jewelry hub in ASEAN,” he said.
