The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has dispatched observational teams to all special economic zones to help eliminate any barriers hindering trade and investment, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade Adul Chotinisakorn stated on November 21, 2015.

According to Chotinisakorn, the MOC will soon hold a meeting with foreign diplomats and foreign chambers of commerce in Thailand to discuss trade opportunities and incentives for overseas investors interested in setting up businesses in the special economic zones.

The government has declared 10 border provinces across the country as special economic zones, with Songkhla, Tak and Sa Kaeo having the greatest potential for trade and investment. The value of border trade this year is estimated at 1.5 trillion baht.
