DITP Director General Malee Choklumlerd announced that Thai gems and jewellery traders visited the Jewellery Arabia 2015 fair in Bahrain from November 22 to 26 to promote and create a positive image of Thailand's gem and jewelry industry.
“They met with business people and jewellery importers from Bahrain,” said Choklumlerd. “It was a good opportunity for Thai business people to explore and find ways to expand their businesses in the Middle East due to the high purchasing power.
“The export of Thai gems and jewellery has increased and is expected to continue. The government is working closely with related agencies to provide knowledge and research for product research and development.”
According to Choklumlerd, sales orders generated during Jewellery Arabia 2015 totalled US$20 million, helping to increase the export of Thai gems and jewellery to the Middle East by 3%.
