The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched ‘Honeymoon in Thailand’ on August 23. The project aims to attract over 5.9 million Chinese tourists and generate 260 billion baht in revenue.

Thailand is one of the top tourist destinations for Chinese visitors. According to TAT, from January to June 2015, four million Chinese visited Thailand, an increase of 107% compared with the same period last year.

“In order to promote Thai tourism, TAT offices in major cities in China have jointly organised the ‘Honeymoon in Thailand’ project to bring 35 Chinese couples to Samui Island,” said Srisuda   Wanaphinyo, TAT director for the eastern region. It is expected that the project will help increase Chinese tourists in Thailand and stimulate sales of honeymoon packages.
