Southern provincial authorities held discussions on August 16 with delegates from Malaysian tour companies and media with the aim of expanding the tourism market.

The Thai delegation – which included Betong mayor Somyot Lertlamyong and Musa Yako, assistant director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Narathiwat office – met with Malaysian delegates from the Association of Domestic Travel, the Tourism Association of Songkhla, and Kwang Hwa Publishing to exchange views on tourism and discuss the revision of tourism packages to help expand the Betong tourism market.

Lertlamyong felt that the discussions would be beneficial to both Thailand and tourism companies. He added that tourist destinations in Betong will be promoted at both local and international levels.

The DITP revealed that trade between Thailand and 47 Latin America countries in the first half of 2015 was worth 3.8 billion baht, a 2% increase on last year.
