Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports announced on August 17 that the Thai tourism industry generated 697.5 billion baht in total visitor expenditure in the first half of 2015, largely due to a 138% surge in spending by Chinese visitors.
China currently represents the biggest source of both visitors and expenditure, with 4 million arrivals in first half of 2015 spending a total of 190.9 billion baht. Malaysia, the UK, Russia, the US and Australia also featured in the top ten for expenditure.
