Chatchai Sarikulya, former Minister of Commerce, announced on August 10 that the ministry will keep pushing Thai exports until the rest of the year. He added that the global market share of Thai products is on course for remaining the same as for 2014, and that in some categories it may even rise.
Sarikulya also announced that, following his official visit to China in August to discuss the Government to Government (G2G) rice trade deal, an expected 1 million tonnes of rice will be sold to China by December this year.
