Trairong Wan-aree, assistant director of the DITP’s overseas office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, said on October 10 that Saudi Arabia is the largest cosmetics market in the Middle East, worth over 60 billion riyal (US$16 billion) per year.

“Though Thai cosmetics only account for 2% of the market, there is much room to grow,” said Wan-aree. “Thai exporters should adapt their pricing strategy and promote their brand to grab the market share.”

He added that all cosmetics for sale in Saudi Arabia should receive a Conformity Certificate and pass laboratory tests. The products should also be registered at the digital database with Saudi Arabia’s food and drug authority.
