Thailand and Laos held a seminar on August 10 on ways to inform Thai and Laotian businesses about new trade opportunities.

Commerce Minister Chatchai Sarikulya believes bilateral trade between the countries could reach US$8 billion over the next three years. From 2009 to 2013, bilateral trade averaged US$3.76 billion per year.

The minister’s counterpart agreed to work with Thailand to promote investment within the ASEAN region. Both parties hope ASEAN will become the next major investment hub in Asia.
