The Ministry of Commerce hosted the Southern International Trade Expo from July 23 to 26 at Central Plaza, Surat Thani to strengthen economic relations between the province and Surat in Gujarat, India.

“Exports from Thailand to India were worth US$5.6 billion in 2014,” said Commerce Minister, General Chatchai Sarikulya, “Thailand and India has had a bilateral FTA agreement since 2003 and we have participated in the Early Harvest Scheme (EHS) in which the taxes of 83 types of products have been waived.”

DITP Director-General Nantawan Sakuntanaga said, “More than 400 international trade representatives were invited to the event. More than 100,000 people visited the expo, including businesspeople from overseas, manufacturers, exporters and also businesspeople from the 14 provinces in the southern region of Thailand.”
