DITP Director-General Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, announced that the department is cooperating with the Thai gems and jewellery sector to hold a B2B mini-exhibition at Coex Exhibition Hall’s conference room, in Seoul, South Korea from July 15 to 19.

“This is a great opportunity to publicise and invite participants to join business negotiations with Thai businesses,” said Sakuntanaga. “The exhibition will provide greater opportunities to broaden business channels for Thai entrepreneurs and also enable them to learn more about South Korean customers’ needs. Moreover, this will correspond with the strategy for enhancing the competitiveness of Thai products."

Thai gems and jewellery exports to South Korea last year reached US$39.52 million a 107% increase on the previous year. Silver accessories constituted US$16.6 million of total, representing a 42% growth. Total Thai gems and jewellery sales (excluding gold) worldwide in Q1 2015 amounted to US$1.9 billion, an increase of 4.8%. This year’s total export value is expected to reach US$7.6 billion, an increase of 5%.
