DITP Director General Nuntawan Sakuntanaga claimed on May 4 that the private sector aims to increase exports of printing and packaging supplies by 1.5 billion baht by the end of 2015.

“The main export markets are Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, the United States and Vietnam,” she said. “Thai entrepreneurs are working together to develop products and technologies to better serve customer requirements.

“Thailand has a comparative advantage in manufacturing consumer products that have high demand in CLMV countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam). The Thai printing industry has the latest technologies and is deemed the largest supplier … in the AEC (Asean Economy Community),” she added.

Sakuntanaga urged Thai entrepreneurs to study different markets. “It is important to fully understand the needs of the target markets,” she said. “For example, European and US markets are looking for environmental friendly and food safety products.”
