The Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP) and the National Food Institute (NFI) organised an event to promote southern Thai Cuisine ‘Southern Cuisine: A Taste of Thai’ at Blue Elephant Restaurant on April 24.

The event was joined by Nisakorn Jungjaroentham, Deputy Director General of Department of Industrial Promotion, Orawan Kaewprakaisangkul, Deputy Director of National Food Institute, and two famous chefs – Teerawee Disyachaipong and Nooror Somany Steppe, owner of the Blue Elephant.

“Southern Thai cuisine has its own distinctive flavour and culinary style,” said Jungjaroentham at the event. “The project is in response to the ongoing Thai Kitchen to the World project, initiated by the government to help promote Thai cuisine at a global level.

“DIP is working together with NFI, Thailand Chefs Association, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Surat Thani Office and other related agencies to find the most effective means in order to ensure the project’s success.”
