Issue 25

The DITP is cooperating with the Thai Embassy in Tokyo, to promote lifestyle products in leading department stores across Japan to improve recognition of Thai brands.

DITP Director General Nuntawan Sakuntanaga said that the DITP with the Thai Embassy in Tokyo organised the Royal Healthy Gifts for Japanese Senior’s Life in early April. “Japan has fully become an ageing society, with approximately 33 million citizens over the age of 65,” she said. “It is projected that in 20 years, about one third of all Japanese will be over the age of 65.”

The DITP aims to establish Thai brands as part of the elderly products industry in Japan, which is currently worth over 4 trillion yen.

From May to August 2015, the DITP will display Thai products that have received the Thailand Trust Mark (TTM) in Takashiyama department stores in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto, as well as in Daimaru department store in Fukuoka. After that, lifestyle products for seniors will be promoted from September 2015 onwards.
