The DITP and Thai Gems and Jewelry Traders Association organised the 55th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry (BGJF) Fair from February 24 to 28 at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok.

“Thailand is ranked 14th in the world as a gems and jewellery exporter, with a total export value of US$10,080 million in 2014,” said DITP Director General of Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, “BGJF is one of the world’s top-five trade fairs for the industry and the DITP has strongly supported the industry to become a major trading centre due to its quality and product design. The industry now aims to become the main gateway into the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), which will take place this year.”

Even highlights included the Design Pavilion Trend 2016, showcasing gems and jewellery items by young designers and upcoming trends in the industry. Another highlight was the exemption of the 20% import duties on gems and jewellery products, allowing exhibitors to bring in products at a lower cost and increasing profit margins from sales during the fair.
