The DITP plans to develop the economy along the border between Thailand and Cambodia due to the significant growth in Cambodia’s economy and the increase in the number of Cambodian tourists to Thailand.

DITP Director-General Nuntawan Sakuntanaga announced on February 6 that, “the number of Cambodian citizens travelling abroad has increased in the recent years due to higher household income.”

More than 40 percent travel for health care and Thailand is considered to be one of the top destinations, she added.

“The DITP has set strategies to facilitate cross-border trade and travel as a mean to help reduce the cost and enhance the competitiveness of Thai SMEs,” she said. “The strategies are believed to offer new market opportunities for the firms as well.”
