Thailand won the Best Asia-Pacific Destination award and was also runner-up for the Best Worldwide Sun Destination at the 23rd Irish Travel Trade Awards 2014, held in Dublin on November 28, 2014.
“It is a great honour to receive such awards voted by members of the trade and leading travel media in Ireland,” said Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor, Thawatchai Arunyik. “These honours join numerous awards and accolades that Thailand and various Thai destinations as well as TAT have won this year, and reinforce a positive image of the country as a top tourist destination.”
Thailand won the hearts of the Irish travel industry professionals in the Best Asia-Pacific Destination category, ousting five other nominees – Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Vietnam. In the Best Worldwide Sun Destination category, Mexico was named the winner and Thailand the runner-up, with other nominees in this award being Dubai, Spain and Turkey.
