The ASEAN Secretariat has assigned the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Ministry of Tourism and Sports to develop the ASEAN MICE Venue Standard (AMVS), as well as to host the First Special Meeting on ASEAN MICE Venue Standard - Category: Meeting Room.

The latter will “serve as a platform for ASEAN member countries to discuss the development of a MICE Venue Standard for our region,” Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, President of TCEB, said on December 4. “The standardisation for meeting rooms will open up new sales and marketing opportunities and facilitate the exchange of communication and trade among ASEAN MICE travellers.”

More than 30 representatives from MICE and tourism sectors in ASEAN member countries participated in the event. According to ASEAN Business Travel Marketing Strategies, 919,164 international MICE travellers came to Thailand in 2014 generating 80.8 billion baht (US$2.45 billion) in revenue.
