Issue 18

The DITP together with 15 representatives from the Thai Garment Manufacturers Association, Thai Hotel and Hospitality Management Association, Thai Frozen Food Association, Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Co Ltd and The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand visited Myanmar from December 14 to 18 to discuss trade and investment opportunities with Myanmar entrepreneurs.

“The discussion was to seek business opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs who wish to expand their trade along the Dan Singkon Thai-Myanmar border pass” said DITP Director-General Nuntawan Sakuntanaga. “A population of 51 million people and GDP growth of 7.8% makes Myanmar a market with high potential for Thai products, which have earned strong credibility in terms of quality.”

Thai products with greatest export potential include ready-to-eat meals, snacks and beverages. Other sought after products include automotive parts, construction materials and agricultural machinery.
