The Ministry of Commerce hosted a business-matching activity at the DITP from December 11 to 13. The event brought together 220 local firms and 160 entrepreneurs from China, Japan, India and Australia. It is expected to increase trade opportunities and enhance confidence in Thai products and services.

“The event was joined by representatives of department stores, retail stores and supermarkets as well as importers.” said Commerce Minister Chatchai Sarikulya. “The aim is to increase Thai exports for the first two quarters of 2015.” He added that foreign importers are especially interested in organic and health products due to the increased consumer awareness of health issues.

Products promoted at the event included ready-to-eat meals, rice, Halal food, beverages, household appliances and gifts. There were also visits to factories and markets.
