Issue 10: 18 Aug 2014

The Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism & Sports together with Chulalongkorn University and Silpakorn University will carry out a campaign to promote tourism for blind tourists under the project Feel the Happiness: Art for the Blind, in September.

Selected local and international artists will get to produce artwork for the blind which will be displayed from September 18 to 24 in Bangkok’s Chamchuri Square. The sculptures will be used for future projects to facilitate tourism for people with disabilities.

Dr. Suwat Sidthilaw, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, says that the project will help facilitate visually impaired tourists to have the same experience as other tourists through feeling the sculptures. This project is aimed to promote greater equality within Thai society. Blind visitors from around the world will have a good chance to experience the beautiful landmarks in Thailand in this exhibition. The art contest is now open for registration.
