The DITP in conjunction with Fairtrade International, held a seminar to educate and encourage Thai entrepreneurs to use the FAIRTRADE mark on July 31, 2014.

Endorsed by Fairtrade International, the FAIRTRADE mark guarantees that recipients use fair methods in their production lines. It indicates eco-friendliness, non-GMO, fair labour and community standards.

“The purpose of this seminar is to ensure the world of Thailand’s intensity to solve labour mistreatment problem,” says Duangkamol Jiambutr, the Deputy Director-General of DITP, adding that the DITP will constantly monitor the recipients of FAIRTRADE mark to ensure the standards. Currently, Thai producers in rice, soy, cassava, and pineapple have received the FAIRTRADE mark. DITP plans for the prawn industry to receive FAIRTRADE as soon as possible.
