The Thai Office of Commercial Affairs in London organised the Taste of Thailand as part of the UK’s biggest international food festival – Taste of London 2014 – from June 18 to 22 in London’s Regent’s Park. This is the third consecutive year that Thailand has been invited as a Featured Country.

“There will be 16 booths featuring raw ingredients, seasonings, ready-to-eat meals, beverages, and more,” Chulit Stavorn, minister (Commercial) for the Royal Thai Embassy (London) said prior to the event. “This is a great opportunity for Thai exporters to present Thai food products to international foodies and to build up the taste in Thai food for foreign consumers.”

The event featured Thai street food as well as delights from London-based Thai SELECT restaurants, as well as a Singha Beer bar, Thai Spa, cookery demonstrations and Thai classical dance performances.

In 2013, Thailand’s food exports to the UK amounted to some U$1 billion. In the first four months of 2014, food exports to the EU reached U$315 million, a 12.6% increase compared with the same period in 2013.
